Sap Sago Cheese is a 100% natural cheese with a deliciously distinctive flavor. The hard, low-fat, pungent, grating cheese has a history that dates back to 1463 from the mountains of Canton Glarus in Switzerland. Also known as Swiss Schabziger®, this unique grating cheese is still manufactured with the same recipe from a thousand years ago. It uses skimmed cow's milk mixed with aromatic blue fenugreek, which makes it so healthy and gives it its characteristic aroma and and attractive green herb color.
Swiss Schabziger® comes packaged in a 3-ounce cone. Its uses are endless -- grate it over boiled or baked potatoes, noodles, pasta, pizza, soups and salads and even over apple and cherry pies. The Swiss often mix Sap Sago in equal parts with butter for a very tasty spread for fresh breads.
This almost fat-free cheese is for the more adventuresome. It keeps almost indefinitely at room temperature (however, we keep it under refrigeration) and you'll find that a little goes a long way. Imported from Switzerland.

At 75 years old it is so enjoyable to eat the same "Green Cheese" that I ate at my German grandmother's table years ago. My favorite way is still with butter on fresh bread.
Fat Free Cheese with Real Taste!

This is a cheese that can help other fat free cheeses actually have some flavor! Great on salads and blended with other fat free cheeses for a cheese spread. Smells and tastes like a mild blue. Very hard and requires grating.

I am very happy with my purchase. I have been looking for this particular cheese for years and was so happy to have found it. My order arrived very fast and I will definitely be doing business with Homestead Market in the future. Thank you so much.

I grew up eating Sap Sago cheese. When they stopped selling it at our local grocery, I found it online. Homestead Market offers the best price, service and shipping costs compared to all other online vendors that offer Sap Sago. Of course, I already loved the cheese, but Homestead Market makes the experience even better; I have been ordering from Homestead for over 6 years.

Recently my aunt, who is 93, told us about sap sago cheese and how much her mother and her had enjoyed it.
She mentioned that she hadn't seen it in years.
I looked online and found your site right away and sent her some.
It arrived very quickly and she was thrilled to find out that sap sago was still around.
Your service was great and you helped me make a sweet lady very happy!!

This is a great Swiss cheese and the online purchase from Homestead Market was wonderful. The product was fantastic and so was the experience of dealing with Homestead Market. I ordered the cheese on August 1st and received my order on August 4th. I then called and thanked the Market for fast shipping and told them I would advertise for them. Highly recommend Homestead Market.....
A Taste From the Past

The Sapsago cheese was one which I ate when I was little (forty years ago). My German parents shaved it on buttered toast and the taste was unlike anything else. Yum! As soon as the package arrived and I saw it was the same cheese, the toast was buttered and the cheese went on top. My eyes fluttered with delight as I took the first bite. I shall be ordering more!

I love Sap Sago cheese. Love the flavor, the smell, the pungency. Looked at other sites, and this was by far the best bang for the buck. Delicious and fresh and exactly what I wanted.

Product was as described. Expiration date was within reason although it could have been somewhat fresher. Delivery time was excellent. Price was quite high. I paid $2.25 or 60% more (not including shipping) at Homestead Market for a 3 oz. cone than I had been paying locally. Unfortunately both of my local sources for the product stopped carrying it because it wasn't moving sufficiently quickly. All in all a good experience except for value.

My grandfather had a friend in a P.O.W. camp in Missouri during World War II. This Italian prisoner taught my grandfather how to make authentic Itailian Spagetti and the use of Sapsego chesse grated on top. We still are hooked on the Sapsego and invite all to get past the smell and taste!
